Adapter question...

I am trying to write an adapter that will take our POS payment data, send an ack, run a transform on this data and then publish the transformed data. Currently this data is flowing into the ESB through a service endpoint (BasicHttp) but since the ack isn't happening, the host system times out and resends the data. So it sounds like a good case for an adapter. Are there any good examples of creating an adapter that does the above? Also there seems to be 2 types of Adapter Family choices (.net or WCF). What are the main differences between them and are there examples of both?

Probably the easiest choice it to create a .Net adapter. The other type of adapter is a WCF Line of Business adapter. The .Net adapter type is simply an adapter based on our Adapter API found in the Neuron.Esb.Adapters namespace in assembly Neuron.Esb.dll. You will want to extend the ESBAdapterBase class. It is not that difficult to create an adapter that will take a message off the bus and send it to a service endpoint. I have attached a sample adapter that will take a message from the bus and write it to disk.

Hey Ray,

You can probably use the same contract I left there for generic two way messages here. In the connect override simply start up your own servicehost.

In the body of the generic request reply method you can return the ack and then call RaiseReceiveFromEndpointEvent to get the message on the bus.

Please,

just advise that the project needs to be compiled against .Net 3.5 and not 4.+

It took me sometime to find the issue as I'm using VS 2012 and by default it set the version to 4.5
