Neuron ESB User Network

The Service Bus for the Connected Business

We are setting up a POC to get Neuron communicating with ActiveMQ (windows) over http. We have successfully got tcp working however we are running into issues trying to get http working. Neuron will send to tcp all day.

We have been searching for a while now, and have not found the answer. Can you guys help?

We see this in the ActiveMQ log when sending over http:

WARN | badMessage: 400 Illegal character 0x0 for HttpChannelOverHttp@808fa9{r=0

c=false,a=IDLE,uri=-}

WARN | Illegal character 0x0 in state=START for buffer HeapByteBuffer@1fe96ab[p

\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00}

And the error message in Neuron:

Exception while sending message System.Exception: Error writing to broker.  Transport connection is closed.

at Apache.NMS.ActiveMQ.Transport.Tcp.TcpTransport.Oneway(Command command) : Transport connection error: Error writing to broker.  Transport connection is closed.

Hi Tim,

Can you submit a support ticket and send us the following information?

  • Neuron version
  • ActiveMQ Version
  • Either your Neuron solution or a simplified version of the solution that demonstrates the behavior
  • Any information on your ActiveMQ setup that i should know when trying to replicate the issue here

And to be clear - are the ActiveMQ queues on the Neuron Server or a separate server?

Thanks,

Joe

Thanks Joe, another team member is actually taking care of the POC so I asked him to submit the support ticket.

Joe, how do you go about submitting a support ticket? We have never submitted one before and do not see a way to do so on the website.

Neuron and ActiveMQ are on the same server.

Neuron version is 3.0.3.250.

ActiveMQ version is 5.13.2

I attached a zip of the Neuron solution. It's just the sample solution that came with Neuron and I added an ActiveMQ adapter endpoint.

I added <transportConnector name="http1" uri="http://0.0.0.0:8080"/> the transport connectors section in the activemq.xml under the conf folder in activemq. I also added the queue Kevin to ActiveMQ.

I have also tried using port 8161 which ActiveMQ uses for its admin page and REST api.

Can you verify the build - it's 3.0.3.250?

Yes, that is the Neuron ESB version.

Tim and Kevin,

The ActiveMQ adapter uses the Apache NMS.ActiveMQ library for communicating with ActiveMQ.  Per some posts I've found, NMS.ActiveMQ does not support the Http or Https transport protocols.  With that being the case, neither can Neuron.

However, if you really need to use http instead, the later versions of ActiveMQ do expose a Rest API that you could call directly from Neuron.  I've not tried it, so you'll have to look at the ActiveMQ documentation for it.

Joe

Joe, we have been struggling for a couple of days trying to figure out how to make this work. Could you provide us some pointers? How is the url for the activemq adapter formatted? Everything we try still fails. Do we need to pass or set any custom properties? Maybe activemq_out.MessageType?

We were able to post to ActiveMQ using Postman following the instructions here:

https://activemq.apache.org/artemis/docs/1.0.0/rest.html

But we as of yet have been able to get Neuron to send.

Marketo Adapter Invalid Token

Hi,We are using the Marketo adapter to push account updates to Marketo. It works well for some time then starts failing with Invalid Token unless restarted. Is there a configuration that can be done so it can auto refresh the token when required? Thanks!See More

I am new to Neuron ESB and in our current scenario,We need to process batch transactions comprising of ~1000 records and send them to Neuron ESB for further processing. I would like to understand what is the maximum size of payload that can be transferred using REST interface to Neuron ESB.See More
