Neuron ESB User Network

The Service Bus for the Connected Business

I have a need to try and use RabbittMQ with a website we have. It looks like RabbittMQ does have a Java JMS client but I am not sure what that means to trying to push these message to RabbitMQ via neuron. What type, if any, support does Neuron have for JMS based messages? Will it work if we install the JMS client? Do we even need to install it?

Neuron ESB supports the use of RabbitMQ as the underlying channel for pub/sub messaging instead of TCP/IP, MSMQ, or the other channel types.

We do not currently ship with an adapter that will allow you to send messages to or receive messages from Neuron using RabbitMQ. We are considering shipping an adapter in a future Neuron ESB release, but we don't have any specific release plans that I can share at this time.

Thanks for the quick response Michael. I am still a bit new to all this so forgive any uneducated question. I have a service which needs to use a JMS compliant Q. They normally use Active MQ which Neuron has an adapter for. We are running in AWS so to my understanding cannot use MSMQ but can use RabbitMQ. I would like to keep it so we only having one Q service to manage so the question is does that become RabbitMQ or Active MQ. I don't think I still clearly understand RabbitMQ as a channel versus having a RabbitMQ adapter. If Neuron cannot send or receive from RabbitMQ how does it use it as a channel (I assume we have to create our own adapter to use it)?

No worries.

When we are using RabbitMQ as a channel, it means that when you publish messages to a Neuron ESB topic through a WCF client connector, adapter, or custom application using our SDK, that message will then be sent to the subscribers using RabbitMQ as the underlying channel. This is a proprietary channel that we use internally and we don't currently support customers sending messages using RabbitMQ from outside of Neuron.

What you are really looking for is a RabbitMQ adapter. This would allow you to create a "bridge" between Neuron ESB and RabbitMQ so that you can publish messages from the ESB to a RabbitMQ queue or exchange; or you can subscribe Neuron to a RabbitMQ queue and have those messages get published to a topic.

We don't currently ship with a RabbitMQ adapter that will allow you to do the later scenario, but it is on our product backlog for a future release.

If a RabbitMQ adapter is something that you're extremely interested in, I'd recommend emailing Neuron Support (NeuronSupport@neudesic.com) and requesting it. We typically prioritize or expedite new features based on customer requests and feedback, but we haven't had any customers request a RabbitMQ adapter yet.

Thanks, that helps clarify. Not sure if we need the RabbitMQ adapter just yet as we are not sure RabbittMQ will support our JMS needs for the message. Need to do some more research but sounds like we would need the adapter and also get the JMS client installed on top of RabbittMQ (as the incoming message will be in JMS format and outgoing needs to be as well). It may work for us to just use the ActiveMQ adapter to send an receive message from ActiveMQ.

Hi,We are using the Marketo adapter to push account updates to Marketo. It works well for some time then starts failing with Invalid Token unless restarted. Is there a configuration that can be done so it can auto refresh the token when required? Thanks!See More
