The Service Bus for the Connected Business

Passing user credentials to ASMX web service via Service Connector

How does one pass user credentials to an ASMX web service without specifying hard coded client credentials on the service connector tab. Our ASMX web service uses windows authentication for security.

I can get the service to respond using client credentials on the service connector tab, but we want to track specific end user usage.

Users access this service via publisher.Send(topic, object) method and not via url.

Hi Frosty,

Sounds like you're asking for impersonation or credentials propagation. This is not available out of the box currently but will be available end of March. However, for such scenarios to reliably work your kerberos must be working and configured across your domain. This is true regardless of windows app and historically has caused numerous headaches for people wanting to do things such as split up the SSRS tier and have credentials flow correctly.

If you're looking for an immediate solution or something simpler than true impersonation/delegation across multiple hops then feel free to email me the scenario and perhaps I can try to come up with something for you.
Credential propagation would be spot on... if I need to impersonate (every end user appears to be John Doe), then setting Client Credentials in the Service Connector tab appears to be the ticket.

So to state another way: If my web service is secured via windows authentication, then the only 'easy' way to access the web service through the bus is to set static Client Credentials in the Service Connector tab?
Right now yes.

Marketo Adapter Invalid Token

Hi,We are using the Marketo adapter to push account updates to Marketo. It works well for some time then starts failing with Invalid Token unless restarted. Is there a configuration that can be done so it can auto refresh the token when required? Thanks!See More
